Expansion is Thriving!
By Matt Berkshire, Psi

When Art Taylor was elected as National President at the St. Louis Convention in 2008, one of the priorities he targeted was the recolonization of closed chapters. That opportunity presented itself last May when we received an e-mail from students at St. Norbertís College, home of the former Theta Chapter, who were interested in learning about ADG.

Over the next few weeks, we held daily dialogue with them about ADG and what these men wanted in a fraternity. The gentlemen at St. Norbertís were looking at the ideals of Alpha Delta Gamma in an effort to bring a different type of fraternity to their campus.

At this yearís Spring Leadership Conference, Theta became our newest colony. The members were given a set of comprehensive milestones which the colony must achieve in order to become a chapter. Some of the milestones are educational and include learning the prayer, our colors, and the dates of our founding. Other, more practical milestones include

attending events and handling necessary financial obligations.

In April, Matt Berkshire and Wayne Palmer-Ball visited Theta to determine the groupís progress. They were very impressed to encounter the depth of their research into the history of their chapter and to realize that this colony is made up of leaders and scholars. The colony is on track with its milestones and we expect to install Theta Chapter at this yearís Convention in Kansas City.

Further, we continue to pursue other possible locations including Florida Atlantic University, South Dakota State University and Texas Arkana.
